Digital processing and visualization of biomedical signals and images

Years:
V
Semesters:
IX
Credits:
2.50

The purpose of discipline is to give students fundamentals and practical knowledge of biomedical signals and images’ processing and analysis.

In the discipline the following topics will be considered: new approaches to processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images obtained from experimental studies of living and artificial objects with high resolution, multidimensional signals with variable spectrum analysis, time-frequency, wavelet and multiscale image analysis, polyspectral signal analysis, filtering, image segmentation and classification methods. The main techniques of estimating morphology and complexity of signals and images are considered. The applications focus on methods for processing biomedical signals and images such as EEG, ECoG, ECG, EMG, sounds, CT and MRI images, ultrasound and others. Students must learn how to select the appropriate methods for processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images, to know their strengths, weaknesses and limitations on use, modification and adaptation capabilities of the known methods to specific problems, and be aware of trends in the evolution of signals and images analysis techniques and their use.

Digital technologies in microelectronics

Years:
V
Semesters:
IX
Credits:
3.50

Discipline "Digital technologies in microelectronics" provides students with knowledge and skills to solve applied problems of modern computing platforms using different types.

The course is grounded on "Algorithmic languages and programming", "Digital circuit design", "Methods of Signal Processing", "Design and construction of biomedical equipment" and others.

Engineering Experiment

Years:
V
Semesters:
IX
Credits:
4.00

The transition to the development and modernization of complex processes of production of microelectronic devices is needed for changes in the methodology of their study, analysis and monitoring, which requires knowledge of physics, chemistry, electronics, etc. A large number of issues in analysis and process control is mathematical in nature, requiring the application of statistical and theoretical-probabilistic methods for processing experimental data.

Engineering methods and techniques for diagnosis and therapy

Years:
V
Semesters:
IX
X
Credits:
8.00

"Engineering methods and techniques for diagnosis and therapy" course gives students knowledge of the methods and tools for diagnosis and treatment of sick people.
In the system of medical and engineering studies major elements are the researcher (doctor + engineer) and biological objects (the patient). For effective operation the system requires proper technical support and knowledge of the anatomical and physiological characteristics of human diseases. Quality of diagnosis and effectiveness of treatment depends on the interaction of these components.
