The purpose of discipline is to give students fundamentals and practical knowledge of biomedical signals and images’ processing and analysis.
In the discipline the following topics will be considered: new approaches to processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images obtained from experimental studies of living and artificial objects with high resolution, multidimensional signals with variable spectrum analysis, time-frequency, wavelet and multiscale image analysis, polyspectral signal analysis, filtering, image segmentation and classification methods. The main techniques of estimating morphology and complexity of signals and images are considered. The applications focus on methods for processing biomedical signals and images such as EEG, ECoG, ECG, EMG, sounds, CT and MRI images, ultrasound and others. Students must learn how to select the appropriate methods for processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images, to know their strengths, weaknesses and limitations on use, modification and adaptation capabilities of the known methods to specific problems, and be aware of trends in the evolution of signals and images analysis techniques and their use.
